Wendy Jo Hampton Announces Candidacy for Oklahoma County Commissioner, District 3

Calls for Restoration of Trust and Accountability in County Leadership

Edmond, OK – Community leader, entrepreneur, and longtime advocate Wendy Jo Hampton today announced her candidacy for Oklahoma County Commissioner, District 3. Hampton, who has lived in Edmond since 1992, brings decades of business leadership and civic engagement to her campaign.

“I’m running because as a mother, a wife, a business owner, and a lifelong resident of Oklahoma County, I believe it’s time for leadership that reflects the values and integrity our citizens deserve,” Hampton said. “Enough is enough. Our community deserves better.”

Hampton, owner of Equipped Marketing, a marketing and media management firm, has built a career helping businesses grow while also serving as a strong voice in community and civic initiatives. She and her husband, Billy, are raising two sons who attend Edmond Public Schools.

Her decision to run comes amid mounting concerns over the leadership of incumbent Commissioner Myles Davidson. Davidson faces serious allegations of sexual harassment and ongoing criticism regarding the lack of transparency in zoning issues for the proposed county jail that seem to be a conflict of interest with Mr. Davidson.

“The level of distrust and frustration among Oklahoma County residents has reached a breaking point,” Hampton said. “Our county government already faces major challenges—we cannot also bear the weight of compromised leadership. To move forward, we must restore trust, accountability, and transparency and that is why I am running and am asking for Commissioner Davidson to resign.”

Hampton’s campaign will focus on:

Restoring Integrity: Ensuring that county decisions are made with honesty, transparency, and accountability.

Protecting Taxpayer Dollars: Ending wasteful spending and demanding clarity on major projects such as the proposed jail development.

Community-First Leadership: Bringing the perspective of a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and professional woman to the decision-making table.

“Our families, our mothers, our daughters—we all deserve leadership that is not only effective, but also ethical,” Hampton added. “I am committed to rebuilding trust and moving Oklahoma County forward with fairness, strength, and integrity.”
